    I have an Astra Mega IIC and finally got around to installing the OSPID. Using the Autotune the parameters are:

    Kp = 3.7
    Ki = 0.6
    Kd = 0.0

    One thing that is confusing me is that when I connect using the Front End my input goes down about 5 degrees instantly (setpoint is at 123, “I” parameter reads 123 on the LCD display, press “connect” on the front end and “I” goes to 118/119 immediately and the front end shows the same)?

    Hi Ron – I plan to do some testing on my espresso machine sometime in the near future. I’m wondering if you can provide details about the thermocouple that you decided to use. Also, how have you decided to secure the thermocouple to the boiler for temperature sensing? Thanks in advance.

    Sorry for the delay in responding. I’m using a Mouser part # 518-4325 (Solid State Relay) and a Liquid tight K type, 2 in probe, 1/4″ NPT Thread (TC-K50MMNPT) from Auberins. My espresso machine, an Astra Mega IIC, has an unused (plugged) 1/4″ NPT bung on the top of the boiler so I simply removed the plug and installed the thermocouple.
