    Hello –
I received my osPID a few weeks ago and have been using it to run a makeshift sous vide setup. I plan on a more permanent setup, but I have been having a problem with the osPID. The three times that I have used it, it has apparently randomly changed a setting at some point during use. Twice it suddenly changed from SSR output to Relay 1 while I was warming up, and once it changed from Direct output to Reverse and quickly raised the temperature to boiling. I have not figured out how to reproduce the errors, and now I feel the need to babysit the osPID constantly to avoid a culinary disaster.

The osPID is running firmware version 1.60, I’m using a 12 volt wall transformer for power, the SSR is an Omega SSR330DC25 (I have larger plans than sous vide…), K type thermocouple for temperature, and I have used the software front end to check the tuning. Let me know if there are any other relevant details.

Has anyone else been having similar issues? Thanks.

I have had similar issues sporadically. Some setting seem also to be retained on reboot, others revert to default. Not sure if the setting in the ospid memory is actually changing, or just the gui fields.

This is beyond sporadic for me. It happens literally every time I use it. Most commonly it suddenly and randomly decides to change from SSR to Relay 1, but it has also changed things like setpoint and output sense. It is downright dangerous. I am extremely disappointed with my osPID right now, I literally can’t leave it alone for ten minutes and expect it to be running normally when I get back.

Out of curiosity, how are you powering it?

    Hi guys,

First of all, I’m sorry for the late reply.

When the setting changes occurs, is the unit connected to the front end software or it is running on a standalone mode?
The output port can only be changed through the front end software. If it not connected to the front end software, it could be a firmware bug causing the output to be changed. My initial hunch is saying there could be a memory leak during run time causing the setting to be changed as there are other settings that changed too.

Myself have been using the osPID Kit (taking turns with my reflow oven shield) to do the reflow job nearly every week and this is the first time I have came across this.

Anyone else is facing this issues besides Sand and Cracked?

My experience of it has been with the front end software. The switching time defaults to 5 s each time I connect.

As this setting isn’t available via the onboard UI, I have no idea if the setting is retained when running stand-alone.

I was having issues with the tuning parameters randomly changing, but this appears to no longer be an issue. Possibly the result of a front end or firmware update.

I haven’t experienced any weird parameter changing – thankfully.

Yes, I’m experiencing the same problem, oddly though it has never happened while on USB power via laptop or dc adapter
